Sakthi Kandeepan

Hi

My name is Sakthi Kandeepan and I am a local artist from Randers, Denmark
I paint under the name, Aambal Arts by SaKa
I paint figuratively in acrylics and my painting styles are very colorful.
My paintings can be seen on Facebook and Instagram under the name: @aambal_arts

As a Sri Lankan Tamil born in Sri Lanka and raised in Denmark, my journey through life has been shaped by dual cultural identities—one rooted in the rich traditions of my Tamil heritage, and the other in the open, evolving society of Denmark. This unique combination influences everything I create. My artwork serves as a bridge between these cultures, using bright, bold colors to reflect the vibrancy of my background. Through my paintings, I aim to introduce the world to Sri Lankan Tamil culture and preserve the stories of my people before they fade into history. I believe in the power of art to communicate stories, emotions, and truths that transcend borders, and my mission is to ensure that our stories, identities, and traditions are not forgotten

Medium & Style
I primarily work with acrylic paints on cotton canvases, creating dynamic, textured works that express the essence of my heritage. Recently, I have begun experimenting with mixed media techniques, including resin and texture paste, to add depth and complexity to my pieces.

My approach is characterized by vivid, bold color palettes that reflect the warmth, energy, and intensity of Tamil culture, while also engaging in contemporary artistic practices. I also respect and admire the simple, yet elegant Danish/Scandinavian style, which has influenced my work in subtle ways. I can’t be the person I am today without both cultures being intertwined, and this duality is a core element of my artistic expression.

One color that consistently appears in my work is blue— a hue that has always captivated me. Blue carries a sense of tranquility, depth, and connection, and I find that it transcends both cultures in different ways. As such, blue features prominently in my pieces, appearing in various shades and forms, from vibrant, bold tones to softer, more muted undertones. It’s not just a color—it’s a symbol of reflection, introspection, and the boundless potential of art.
